 |
The automatic keypad on Wega Atlas espresso machines (pictured left)
allow a pre set dose of water to be run through the coffee when a button
is pressed. If you have the keypad pictured left then each pad is
independant, and you must program every pad with the new settings you
would like. If you keypad has bigger cups on, with espresso on the left
hand side with two espresso below it, then the full cups for long espresso
and two long espresso's below that, you can program the right hand group
and all subsequent left hand groups will take the same
settings. |

The keypad pictured left was introduced in 2003 for the Atlas and Orion range of Wega Espresso Machines, this new keypad just has a ribbon cable connection at the back, and unlike the earlier keypad does not include the program settings board or the water level - these are housed in a seperate control unit. |
How to re-program Wega Atlas automatic keypad
- Locate the keypad lock switch, which is located behind the right hand
steam arm, near the top where the steam arm is bolted to the machine.
- The keypad lock switch is a silver toggle switch, when up the keypad can
not be programmed. Flick it down to on in order to allow programing.
- With the toggle switch down, you can now program your cup sizes. Each
button must be set with fresh ground coffee in the group handle, one pull (7g)
if you are setting the switch for one drink or two pull's (14g) for two
drinks.
- Insert the group handle with fresh coffee into the group you wish to
program. Place your cup under the spout or spouts. Press and hold the
PROG/STOP button for 10 seconds until the light illuminates next to it (lights
next to the cup sizes may or may not come on)
- With the light on next to PROG/STOP, press the keypad button you wish to
program. Coffee will start to dispense into the cups.
- When you have the desired volume of coffee in the cup, press the PROG/STOP
button. Coffee will stop being dispensed, and the machine will remember the
dose it has just given.
- Repeat the process for different cup sizes, using fresh coffee every time.
- When you have finished setting the program, remember to flick the toggle
switch up to lock the program mode. This will ensure no-one can accidently
re-set your cups sizes.
With age your Wega Atlas touchpad keypad can become worn, the button membranes can start to stick together from heavy use and you will find your group running at random times without people touching it. Replacing the keypad is simple, remove the top tray of the machine, and the angled silver shield. There are little retaining tabs top left and right, bottom left and right on the keypad, press these in and push the keypad out of the machine from the inside - it should pop out. Disconnect the ribbon cable, connect the ribbon cable to the new keypad and push it back into the slot in the machine.
